Marika Eensalu has graduated Ludmilla Issakova's class from Tallinn National Conservatory in 1978 and has taken classes from I. Arhipova in Moscow.
During 1970-1980 she sang in the opera choir of the National Opera Theatre "Estonia" and during 1980-1997 she was the mezzosoprano soloist of the choir. Eensalu has won the 3rd place in A. Kalninši competition in Riga (1979) and the prize of Georg Ots (1989). She has also performed as an oratoy and chamber singer.
Some of her roles include: Marcellina (Mozart - "Figaro's wedding"), Mother and the soloist (Tormis - "Estonian ballades"), Carmen (Bizet - "Carmen"), Clara (Prokofjev - "Engagement in the monastery"), Bradamante (Hendel - "Alcina"), Catharina (Tubin - "Reigi's teacher") and many others.
Marika has worked as a teacher in Tallinn National Conservatory and in Tallinn Music School. Currently she is a teacher in classical song department in Georg Ots Music School.
From the beginning of Autumn 2004 Marika is the vocal coach of the Estonian TV Girls' Choir.
